All change happen through a creative process. In art therapy focus is on creating a dialogue between what we allready know, and what has not yet become conscious.

Through the use of symbols and creative products in the psychotherapeutic process, individuals are invited to follow new pathways discovered in the artwork as a way to make changes in life.

Methods

Art therapy method relates to client needs and life situation and often involves several media in the attempt to discover the psychological meaning of the artwork.

The theoretical foundation in art therapy practise is integrative and includes different models and concepts useful for psychological understanding. The approach is based on the understanding, that different theories add important meaning to human creative development.

Philosophy

Art therapy at the Institute of Art Therapy is inspired by the psychology of  Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961)

His trust in man’s capability to heal from inside is the foundation for the art therapy processes at the Institute of Art Therapy
